“Music therapy can make the difference
between withdrawal and awareness,
between isolation and interaction,
between chronic pain and comfort,
between demoralization and dignity.”
Barbara Crowe (past president of the National Association for Music Therapy)
Both the certification body (CBMT) and the professional association (AMTA) for music therapists provide excellent information on the topic of advocacy. The two organizations have been working together since 2005 to promote recognition of the MT-BC credential in each of our 50 states.
Depending upon your location across the country, there are active state task forces working on legislation to recognize board certified music therapists.
